Perhaps it was when he first sat beside at the back of the classroom when nobody wanted to sit there because they knew I didn’t have a functional family.
But now I know it was because there was no other empty seat.
Perhaps it was when he gave me his banana milk, which was one of the most popular things in our school canteen and you had to go to war to get it.
But now I know it was simply because he hates banana.
Perhaps it was when he gave me a ride during that sudden thunderstorm on a random school day and no online drivers were willing to pick up my order.
But now I know it was because I kept begging him until I was about to cry.
Perhaps it was when he started telling me his plans of the day and including me in his plans without me needing to ask him.
But now I know he was just being chatty in general.
Perhaps it was when he offered his company when my mind was too loud to bear, even when his mind was just as loud.
But now I know that I was just the convenient choice of company.
